5 held for killing villager over petty issue near Panshet dam
According to police, the five of them thrashed Katkar and hit his chest with a stone so hard that he sustained a serious injury and died in the incident.

The Pune rural police arrested five youngsters who allegedly attacked and murdered a 24-year-old man near Panshet dam over a petty issue.
The deceased has been identified as Rohidas Kaluram Katkar (24), a resident of Kadve village in Velhe taluka of Pune district.

According to the police, five youngsters—Akash Bhise (21), Bhagwat Asuri (20), Ritesh Jogdand (21), Umesh alias Bhaiya Shelke (21) and Pandurang Sonawane (19) from Narhe area in Pune and natives of Parbhani district—went to Panshet dam on June 15.
While returning, they took a halt at a hotel in Panshet for smoking around 7 pm. They had some argument with Katkar over some petty issue, said police.
According to police, the five of them thrashed Katkar and hit his chest with a stone so hard that he sustained a serious injury and died in the incident. The assailants fled the spot on a scooter and a motorcycle immediately after the incident, said police.

An FIR of murder was lodged at the Velhe police station in Pune rural. Sandeep Singh Gill, Superintendent of Pune rural police, visited the crime scene, along with other senior officers, and launched a probe into the murder case.
Police checked CCTV cameras at different spots roads which the accused took to flee after committing the crime.
Police said CCTV footage revealed the number of the scooter used by the accused. Police traced the scooter near Walhekar chowk in Narhe.
Further investigation revealed that Bhise had taken the scooter from his friend Ganesh Navghare. Police then arrested Bhise on June 16. His interrogation revealed the details of other four accused and eventually they were arrested and booked for murder.
