4 women of a family killed in car, minibus collision in Junnar

As per officials from Otur police station, the incident took place around 8.30 am on Ahmednagar-Kalyan Highway near Pimpalgaon Joga village, 110 km from Pune.

FOUR women of a family were killed and at least six persons were injured when a private bus collided with a car in Junnar taluka, Pune district on Sunday morning.

Officials said all four deceased women were travelling in the car that was heavily damaged in the accident.

As per officials from Otur police station, the incident took place around 8.30 am on Ahmednagar-Kalyan Highway near Pimpalgaon Joga village, 110 km from Pune.

Officials said the private bus was on its way from AlePhata to Kalyan, while the car was moving in the opposite direction.

Police said the deceased— Bhagyashree Gaykar (18), Kusum Shingote (55), Bhagyashree’s mother Savita Gaykar (38) and Sunita Hadawale (57) — were all residents of Akole taluka in Ahmednagar, of the same family. Among the injured were Bhagyashree’s brother Sahill Gaykar (20) and her father Sahebrao Gaykar (42). Four other injured persons were in the minibus, two of whom have been identified as Dhananjay Das (26) and Sasodar Das (40).

Inspector Lahu Thate, in-charge of Otur police station said two of the women died on the spot due to grievous injuries while two others succumbed during treatment.
