The city police have arrested four persons including two women,who allegedly went to the Isha massage centre in Sadashiv Peth posing as officers from the Anti Corruption Bureau. Thety allegedly beat the women and staff,forcibly removed their clothes,clicked their photographs and demanded Rs 40,000 from them. Police said that the suspects threatened to release these photographs in public if the money was not paid.
A 25-year-old woman working at the Isha massage center lodged the complaint at Swargate police station. Police arrested the four identified as Sandhya Suhas Shinde (30) of Yerawada,Nita Ursal (34) of Hadapsar,Babu Shingade (34) of Chandan Nagar,and Vijay Premsingh Rajput (28) of Guruwar Peth.
The suspects claimed that they are human rights activists and had received complaints against malpractices at the massage centre. Police said the suspects clicked obscene pictures of the staff and threatened them. Assistant police inspector Varsharani Patil is investigating the case. The suspects were produced before the court on Saturday. They have been remanded in police custody for two days. We have seized a camera they used. Also,human rights activists identity cards have been seized from them. Rajput was earlier booked in a cheating case. Investigation is on whether they have committed more offences, said Patil.
