The central government has sanctioned Rs 10.75 crore for upgradation of 38 agricultural produce market committees (APMC)s in the state.
The money would be used to provide basic infrastructure in the market committees.
A press statement issued by the Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) said the 38 marketyards selected were at Sangola, Gevrai, Beed, Pachora, Shrigonda, Rahuri, Sillod, Asti, Atpati, Indapur, Chandrapur among others.
This amount was the first installment of the Rs 68 crore promised by the central government for refurbishing of 47 APMCs in the state.
The amount received would be used by the 38 APMCs to construct auction stalls, separate markets for fruits and flowers, cold storage compound wall etc.
Managing Director of MSAMB Milind Akre said they were trying for the release of the second installment also.
