2 motorcyclists die, 3 others hurt in Saswad road crash

Two men have died and three others sustained severe injuries in an accident involving two motorcycles near Saswad town in Pune district, officials said, confirming that all that five people had not been wearing helmets at the time of the incident.
According to the police, one bike with four riders lost control and collided with the other vehicle on Friday evening on Saswad-Parinche Road in Purandar taluka, around 50 kilometers from Pune city.
One of the deceased, Chandrakant Sampat Danavale, 50, was riding alone; while the other person has been identified as Sanjay Jaising Nangude, 26, said Assistant Sub Inspector Anil Khomne, the investigation officer, adding that the two succumbed to serious head injuries.
Initial probe suggested that under the impact of the collision, the motorcycle riders were thrown off their vehicles, he stated.
“We do not know who among the four riders on the other vehicle rode the bike. We are yet to record the statement of the three injured persons. Their injuries are serious in nature but their condition is stable, according to doctors.” said Khomne.
The three injured are Shekhar Ghodke, 25, Pratik Khomne, 25, and Akash Samgir, 24.
