2 Fergusson College students drown in Khamboli reservoir

“Around 10.30 am, the group entered the waters. Initial information suggests they waded into the water which is more than knee deep. At one point, Kathapurkar and Patil began drowning in an area that has accumulated a lot of silt. After a point, they could not be seen. Their friends raised an alarm and called the locals, and also informed the police,” the officer added.

The police, subsequently, called a team of rescuers from the fire department of Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). Fire Officer Vijay Mahajan said, “By the time we reached, the locals had dragged out Kathapurkar’s body. Upon reaching, we launched a search, and recovered Patil’s body after two hours.”

Inspector Santosh Girigosavi of Paud police station said, “The families of both the deceased were informed immediately after the incident.”
