The irrigation officers have released 1,712 cusecs of water from Khadakwasla dam,as it was 100 per cent full on Saturday.
Khadakwasla irrigation division officer S Bolbhat said that the catchment areas of the dam have received good rainfall but the average rainfall in all the four dams together – Khadakwasla,Panshet,Varasgaon and Temghar – was 58.98 per cent. We need 33 per cent water for drinking and 67 per cent water for irrigation purpose, said Bolbhat. He added that the water cut in the city will continue.
He said if the catchment areas continue to receive good rainfall and the average touches 80 per cent then the city could go without water cut.
On Saturday,Khadakwasla recorded 1.97 tmc water while Panshet had 6.09 tmc with 20 mm rainfall. Varasgaon had 6.35 tmc with 20 mm rainfall and Temghar recorded 1.93 tmc with 18 mm rainfall.
