This year’s Health Film Festival, organised by the PM Shah Foundation and Vardhaman Pratishthan in Pune, will be held on Friday and Saturday at the NFDC-National Film Archive of India on Law College Road, the foundation has announced.
Advocate Chetan Gandhi, Director, PM Shah Foundation, said that 31 short films and documentaries selected from more than 145 entries from India and abroad would be screened at the festival.
“We are organising the 14th Health Film Festival in association with the PM Shah Foundation and Vardhaman Pratishthan, and we have received a spontaneous response from the contestants this year as well,” he said, adding that short films and documents cover topics such as mental health, child health and child sexual abuse, women’s health issues, organ donation, cancer, social health, cleanliness, health issues of senior citizens. They will have English subtitles.
Entry to the film festival is free, and seats will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

The film festival will be inaugurated at 2 pm on Friday by Dr Ravi Kannan R, director of the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Assam, who has revolutionised cancer treatment in the region. He has won the Padma Shri and the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
The screening of short films and documentaries will start at 3 pm.
The next day, short films and documentaries will be screened from 10 am, and the festival will conclude at 4 pm.
Actress Renuka Daftardar will preside over the closing and prize distribution ceremonies, where awards will be given to the best short films and documentaries.
Entries for the festival have come from the UAE, Australia, Germany, America, Pakistan, Algeria, England, Bangladesh, Senegal, the Philippines, France, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, South Africa, Serbia, and Iran.
Critic and social activist Anuja Deodhar, Dr Leena Borude, and social activist Neeta Mehta selected the documentaries and short films to be screened at the festival.
