A 20-year-old man allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl after abducting her on Thursday evening. Accused Chand Jamaal Shaikh,who has several criminal cases registered against him at Chinchwad police station,has been arrested.
On basis of a complaint lodged by the victims mother,the police have booked Shaikh (20),a resident of Fakirbhai Pansare Chowk in Anand Nagar,Chinchwad,under Sections 376 (2) (h),366 (a),368,342 and 506 (2) of the IPC,Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,2012,and Sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,1989.
Police said the girl was coming out of a public urinal in Anand Nagar area of Chinchwad when Shaikh allegedly gagged her mouth with a cloth. Threatening to kill her if she tried to shout for help,he allegedly took her to a deserted room near the toilet and raped her,after tying her hands and legs. The girl later told her parents about the incident after which her mother approached the police. The girl was sent to Sassoon hospital for a medical test.
The police said they had seized the clothes that Shaikh was wearing while allegedly committing the crime. They have also collected the girls clothes for evidence.

Meanwhile,the Chinchwad police produced Shaikh before a special court in Shivajinagar. They told the court that Shaikh was a historysheeter. He was earlier booked in two cases of theft and armed robbery. The police told the court that Shaikhs custodial interrogation was required to collect evidence. Special Judge S T Darane sent Shaikh to police custody for seven days. Assistant Commissioner of Police Shivaji Shelar is investigating the case.
