For Dr Anjali Morris, writing Overcoming Learning Disorders has been a re-learning experience. The book,co-authored with Dr PK Sarkar, has been a long time in the works, says Morris, founder of Bridging Over Learning Differences (BOLD).
Four years to be exact. I began work with BOLD about 10 years back, but sat down to write this book in 2009. Dr Sarkars writing style perfectly complemented the subject we were working on, she says.
The book deals with learning disorders and primarily discusses dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and ADHD. These are problems evident in schools. And teachers or even parents feel children are not working hard. However, the case is otherwise. Children need help and more than that, teachers and parents need to be patient with them. That is the only way in which a positive change can be brought about in them. It is also the only way in which they can overcome disabilities, she says.
The book will be released on May 10 at Crossword,ICC Towers,Senapati Bapat Road. Arun Firodiya will be chief guest.
