As many as 10 police officials from Pune city have been nominated for the President’s Police Medal for their distinguished and meritorious service.
They include assistant commissioner of police (crime) Rajendra Bhamre,assistant commissioner of police (administration) Vishnu Mane,police inspector Arun Walture of crime branch,police sub inspector Subhanbhai Pathan of police headquarter,assistant sub inspector Baban Raghunath Pawar of police headquarter,assistant sub inspector Subhash Bhuku Chumbalkar of Saahkarnagar police station,assistant sub inspector Dattatraya Laxman Anpat of SRPF Group II,police havaldar Sikandar Jamadar of Faraskhana police station,police havaldar Vijay Vitthal Adak of special branch and Sharad Anandrao Kale of Khadki police station.
ACP Bhamre joined the police force as a sub inspector in 1983. He has handled various responsibilities and received 294 prizes so far. He played an important role in solving the sensational Vikram Potdar murder case of 2006 and Aditi Sharma double murder case in 2007.
ACP Mane joined the police force as a sub inspector in 1979. He has received 300 prizes in his service and was awarded the police medal on August 15,2001. He has worked in different police establishments and solved important crimes.
Police inspector Walture joined police force in 1984 and has received 300 prizes so far. He was instrumental in the recovery of 10 firearms and 82 cartridges from the members of the dreaded Sharad Mohol gang in 2011.
Police sub inspector Pathan joined the police force in 1979 as a constable. He has gotten 301 prizes. He was the man behind composing music for the police band.
ASI Pawar joined the police force in 1978 as a constable and has received 180 prizes. ASI Chumbalkar joined police force in 1976 as a constable. He has so far received 220 prizes during his service. ASI Anpat joined the SRPF in 1980. He has worked in naxal affected areas. He has won 100 prizes till now.
Havaldar Jamadar joined the police force in 1981. He is know for his communication and networking skills. He has got 280 prizes. Havaldar Kale joined the police force in 1981 as constable. He has got 202 prizes. Havaldar Adak joined the police in 1981 as constable. He has got 162 prizes so far.
Three constables — Vijay Katkar,Tanaji Khade and Shakil Shaikh,attached to Yerwada Central Jail,were also nominated for the President’s Police Medal.
