THE Anti-Narcotics Cell of Pune police has seized 5.5 kg packaged marijuana balls,which was to be sold at colleges in the city among other places,police said on Monday.

Based on a tip-off,a team led by inspector Sunil Tambe of the cell arrested Rajesh Ashok Raut (31) of Nana Peth. The team laid a trap on BT Kawde Road in Ghorpadi on Monday and arrested Raut with the marijuana packed in small packets “branded” as Tarang. The market value of the seized contraband is around Rs 22,000.

Tambe said: “These packets were to be sold at some of the educational institutes in the city and also at some other places.” The investigating team comprised constables Ramdas Jadhav,Rohan Chavarkar,Bharat Jarande,Vinayak Jadhav,Rakesh Gujar,Kunal Mane,Manoj Bhargude and Vitthal Khilare.
