A sessions court Monday sentenced 22-year-old Kishan Sahani to seven years for raping a 15-year-old girl in empty bogies of long distance trains in December 2011.
According to the prosecution, the minor victim,a resident of Solapur, had walked out of her house after a fight with her elder sister. Unsure of her next move, she boarded a train to Pune. Sahani, who was traveling in the train, offered her a seat.
Dadar railway police said on reaching Pune, the accused took the victim to a nearby restaurant. The victim in her deposition claimed that as she was new to the city and she had by then befriended Sahani, she accompanied him.
Sahani brought the victim back to the station, made her enter the empty train and raped her. The victim was forced to stay in Pune till the next day, when the accused brought her to Dadar where the her family was waiting for her. The victim said she was again raped in an empty train at Dadar station. Sahani fled but was nabbed the same day.
The court relied upon the victims statement and a medical report that supported the prosecutions claims that the victim was sexually assaulted.
