Double Asian champion Yasin Merchant fell a frame short of qualifying for the knockout quarter-finals as he crashed out in dramatic circumstances,in the Shyam Shroff Memorial All India Open Invitation Snooker Tournament at the Khar Gymkhana on Wednesday.
In the concluding Group A ties,2009 champion Kamal Chawla of MP beat Merchant 4-0 and later overcame India junior No. 1 Laxman Rawat 4-3 to qualify as the group topper. Merchants fate rested on the margin of victory in the match between Chawla and Rawat,but the latter prevailed.
