An X-ray technician at St. George Hospital in Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus was arrested by the MRA Marg police on Saturday for allegedly making lewd remarks to a 50-year-old patient.
The police said the woman suffering from a stomach problem had reported to a doctor in St George on Saturday. He prescribed an X-ray of her stomach and chest area. She handed over the prescription to Sudhakar Jadhav,54,a technician at the department.
Jadhav allegedly said he would not be able to take the X-ray in a standing position. “When the woman pointed out that the doctor had specified a standing position,Jadhav used lewd words and told her that he was the one taking the X-ray and not the doctor,” said a police officer.
The woman complained against Jadhav to the doctor,who in turn informed the police. “We have arrested Jadhav under Indian Penal Code Section 509 for using lewd language. He will be produced in court on Sunday,” said the officer.
Superintendent-in-charge at St George Dr Jagdish Bhawani said the technician had since been suspended.
