Woman gets life for killing neighbour over Rs 50

A sessions court convicted and sentenced Wednesday a 61-year-old woman to life for killing her 55-year-old neighbour of 13 years who allegedly refused to lend her Rs 50.

Laxmibai Dangle claimed she killed Latika Kamble as she allegedly humiliated her.

Kamble was found murdered in her fourth-floor flat at Kalpana Vihar Society in Kannamwar Nagar 1,Vikhroli (E),On September 14,2011.

The prosecution claimed Dangle hit Kamble on the forehead with a blunt object before stealing her gold earrings,a chain worth Rs 50,000 and a mobile phone worth Rs 16,000. Police recovered the chain and earrings from her creditors.

The Kamble family was out at work at the time. Police suspected the murder was the job of someone known to the victim.

Subjected to sustained interrogation,Dangle broke down and accepted her crime.

She said she was in debt and the refusal of Kamble to loan money infuriated her and after an argument,she attacked the neighbour.
