Woman drowns in sea near Bandra Fort

A 27-year-old woman drowned in the sea at Bandra on Sunday evening. The incident took place near Bandra Fort around 7 pm, as per the information received by Mumbai Fire Brigade.

Currently a search-and-rescue operation is on and the missing woman has been identified as Jyoti Shonar (27).

Fire brigade officials said she came to visit Bandra Fort with her friends from Navi Mumbai.

“At present, rescue operation is going on and due to the high tidal waves and rains, it is taking more time than usual to locate the body. It is possible that the person might have fallen down from near the foothill of the fort, since that place is steep and becomes very slippery during the rains,” an official privy to the rescue operation said.
