Samta Nagar police are on a hunt for three brothers accused of leaving the wife of one of them gagged in a tempo, leading to her death by suffocation,in Kandivali East on Friday.

Samta Nagar police are on a hunt for three brothers accused of leaving the wife of one of them gagged in a tempo, leading to her death by suffocation,in Kandivali East on Friday.

Police said the three suspects — Ghansham Bajrangi Yadav,35,Rajaram Bajrangi Yadav,32 and Rajiv Bajrangi Yadav,29 — are drivers by profession and residents of Thakur village in Kandivali East. They said Rajaram had a fight with his wife Shashikala around 8.45 pm on Friday, following which he tied her hands and legs and confined her to a tempo for hours until she died due to suffocation.

“Rajaram and Shashikala had a fight on Friday when Shashikala saw her husband and Ghansham’s wife Seema together. He dragged her to a tempo (MH 04 FD 3352),tied her limbs, gagged her mouth and left her there for hours. Later,he asked Ghansham to dump Shashikala’s body,” an officer said. Ghansham reportedly took the tempo to Tilak Nagar and left it there.

A neighbour,Gayaram Harilal Yadav, heard Shashikala’s screams and suspected a foul play. He called the police and they came to Rajaram’s residence, where Rajiv told them that his brothers and their wives had gone to their village. “We found the body and tempo at Tilak Nagar. We have registered a case and launched a hunt. We will be able to find the exact reason once the three are arrested,” senior police inspector Anant Kenjle said.
