Woman attacked,cops hunt for 2 suspects

The Marine Drive police have launched a search operation to nab two suspects in the case.

A 33-year-old woman was allegedly attacked by a man who tried to rob her while she was out for a walk Friday. The Marine Drive police have launched a search operation to nab two suspects in the case.

Police said Mehar Lamberaj left her Tardeo residence for a walk around 4.30 am. On reaching Marine Drive,the woman started listening to music on her cellphone,

police said.

“As she was approaching Air India Junction,one of the suspects approached her from behind and tried to snatch her cellphone. However,Mehar resisted. This led to a scuffle. He attacked her with a sharp object several times and she suffered injuries on the arms. A few others,who were out for a walk,rushed to the woman’s rescue. The suspect fled,” said an officer. The other suspect was waiting on a motorcycle,he added.

Mehar was admitted to Bombay Hospital. A police team reached the hospital and a complaint of robbery was registered against the unidentified duo.

“We have prepared sketches of the suspects based on the description given by the victim and are trying to identify them. CCTV footage of the area is also being examined. The victim is out of danger,” said inspector

Rajendra Patil.
