Now,welfare activities of wives of Western Railway officials are not just limited to the railway employees. The Western Railway Women Social Service Committee (WRWSSC) donated four ambulances to the Western Railway for the welfare of railway staff and public at large. Out of these four ambulances,three will be stationed at Goregaon,Kandivali and Mira Road.
To ensure quick medical attention,Anila Verma,president of the WRWSSC,presented three ambulances to Divisional Railway Manager Girish Pillai and one to MD of the railways Jagjivan Ram Hospital,Mumbai Central,Dr AK Vyas in a function held at the hospital. Chief Medical Director,WR,Dr Suhas Nandgave,office bearers and members of WRWSSC,railway officers & staff were also present. Shyam Sunder Gupta,Chief Public Relations Officer ,WR,said,The departmental ambulances of WR will now be available at seven stations.
Ambulances are already made available at Churchgate,Lower Parel,Bandra by WR. Besides,four stations Dadar,Andheri,Borivali and Vasai Road have ambulances provided by the NGOs. The ambulances stationed at these stations also cater to the needs of nearby stations in emergency. One ambulance will be utilised at JR Hospital of WR. The ambulances will enable speedier shifting of railway beneficiaries as well as commuters needing medical attention, said Gupta.
