We will eliminate Maoism, ensure development of the region: DGP Rashmi Shukla  

DGP visits sensitive Fulnar camp in Gadchiroli, inaugurates library; encourages tribals to avail welfare schemes and assures more connectivity.

She reaffirmed the police’s commitment to eliminating Maoist influence and improving development, infrastructure and community engagement in the region.DGP Rashmi Shukla reviewed the new Fulnar Police Assistance Centre and launched extensive outreach initiatives in Gadchiroli’s remote villages.

Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Shukla on Monday visited the highly sensitive Fulnar Camp Gundurwahi Police Assistance Centre (PAC) in Bhamragad sub-division of Gadchiroli district, which was established on November 23. During the visit, she reviewed the operational preparedness of the camp and interacted with officers and personnel deployed at the post.

A ‘Janjagran Melawa’ (public awareness programme) was also organised under the police outreach initiative ‘Police Dadalora Khidki’ (Window of the police) for residents of remote region under the Fulnar Camp jurisdiction. Additional Director General of Police (Special Operations) Dr Chhering Dorje and other senior police officers were present during the event.

Essential household and utility items including spray pumps, cooking utensils, sewing machines, blankets, clothes, etc were distributed to the villagers. School students were provided with bicycles, stationery items, school bags, sports kits and other educational material. More than 500 residents from remote villages participated in the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Shukla said the Gadchiroli police would work to resolve the problems of citizens through the newly established PAC and encouraged people to avail various welfare schemes run by the police. She said that despite Fulnar being a remote border area near Chhattisgarh, basic infrastructure such as roads and healthcare facilities would reach the region in the near future. She also called upon police personnel to work in coordination with locals and reiterated that efforts would continue to eliminate Maoist influence from the district. “We will eliminate Maoism and ensure development of the region,” Shukla said.

Later, under the district police’s ‘Ek Gav, Ek Vachanalaya’ initiative, the 74th public library was inaugurated at Gardewada village in the Hedri sub-division by the DGP. A ‘Granthadindi’ (book procession) was taken out to promote reading habits among students and villagers. The library has been equipped with a study room, furniture and reading material.

Shukla also unveiled a statue of tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Gardewada. The statue was built through public participation and contributions from police personnel of the Gardewada PAC.
During the visit, the new administrative building of sub-police station Laheri was also inaugurated by Shukla and ADG Dr Dorje. Officials said the modern facility would improve working conditions for police personnel and benefit the local population.

Among those present were DIG (Gadchiroli Range) Ankit Goyal, DIG (Operations) CRPF Ajay Kumar Sharma, Superintendent of Police Neelotpal and others.
