The 22-year-old photojournalist who was gangraped allegedly by five men inside the Shakti Mills compound in Mahalaxmi on August 22,will depose before the sessions court on Tuesday. Principal sessions judge Shalini Phansalkar Joshi on Monday heard the first three witnesses,including an architect who had prepared the maps of the mill at the time of investigation.
Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam confirmed that the victim and her colleague,who had accompanied her to the mill,will depose on Tuesday.
Architect S Kanwade had given an elaborate description of the dilapidated mill premises to the police at the time of the investigation. While his statement was not made a part of the chargesheet,he was summoned to the court to help understand the topography of the mill and establish the prosecutions case,Nikam said.
Two panchwitnesses also deposed before the court. We have decided to take up as many witnesses as possible every day and expedite the process, said Nikam.
Four of the five accused Vijay Jadhav (18),Siraj Khan (24),Mohammad Kasim Shaikh (20) and Mohammad Salim Ansari (27) were present before the court. The fifth accused,a minor,has been sent to the juvenile justice board,and his trial will be conducted separately.
