On Sunday,Versova police arrested Shaikh and booked him on charges of attempt to murder. In his statement,Shaikh has allegedly confessed to being privy to the conspiracy meeting, though he claims he has no knowledge about the main conspirators.

Shaikh has given details of a woman who resides in Andheri as party to the conspiracy plot. He has alleged that the woman had called Jain and asked him to visit Lokhandwala. Shaikh is alleged to have then picked up Jain in his car from Lokhanwala, and dumped him at Versova, after he and his associates allegedly slit his throat.

Jain has said he does not know any of the kidnappers. “Jain just told us that he had come to Lokhandwala from where he was kidnapped,” said the officer. Jain’s family members who were present at Criticare Hospital were unable for comment. Police are also probing whether a property related dispute was behind the attack.
