Vasai Government Railway Police (GRP) probing the death of Bandra resident Steven Quadros,20,whose body was found near Vasai railway station Sunday, conducted a punchnama of the spot to recreate the scene before his death and verify if he was murdered,as alleged by his family,or whether he died in a train accident.
On Sunday,Quadros had gone to Vasai with his friends Charlene Fernandes,Allwin Jude,Reece Valadaris and Tanvi Sharma. His mother got a call saying Steven had died in a train accident at the railway station. Stevens uncle Bosco DeSilva went to Vasai along with some of Quadross friends and when they saw the body, they found the injuries to be suspicious, leading to allegations of murder against the four friends.
GRP officers said they were trying to find out the direction of the blood splatter, which would help determine if he was hit by a train. After the recreation process is done,we will compare it with the second postmortem report that is awaited from J J Hospital, said inspector P S Bhangre,Vasai GRP.
Police said on Wednesday, they found a few drops of blood at the spot where the body was found, which is 1.5 km away from Vasai railway station.
Police also said Stevens friends have been changing their statements. The four say Steven was drunk and began running on the tracks and when Allwin ran after him to stop him,he hurt his leg. Earlier, they said they had gone to the spot to answer natures call but Steven did not see the train and was hit while they managed to flee, said another officer.
DCP Bansidhar Shirsat,(GRP) said,Primary investigations indicate it was a railway accident. We are investigating on the basis of circumstrancial evidence to find out the exact sequence of events before Quadross death.
