Two police officers were injured in two separate accidents on Wednesday in Charkop and Kandivili (East).
In Charkop,Police Constable Sanjay Tukaram Pawar (38) was returning home on his motorcycle when a grey coloured car hit him headfirst on a road off the Western Express Highway. Pawar hit the cars windscreen and tumbled on the road fracturing his arm and leg while the driver fled.
In Kandivili (East),Assistant Sub Inspector Chandrakant Kadam was buying vegetables in Thakur complex,when a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by one Tushar Hegde (18) hit him while going in the wrong direction on a road in the complex. The car lost control and went over a divider and hit a tree on the opposite side of the road. Hegde and two other passengers of the car were also injured.
Pawar is admitted in Shivam Nisarg home,Charkop while Kadam is presently recuperating in Bhagwati hospital. The Charkop police have booked the driver of the car that hit Pawar for rash and negligent driving,not taking the victim to a hospital and not informing the police. However,in case of Kadam,the Samtanagar police are yet to register a case and are investigating the matter.

Pawar has fractured his left shoulder and elbow,as well as his right shin,while Kadam has suffered minor injuries on his head and jaw. Kadam was first rushed to Sri Sai Hospital along with Hegde and his two passengers,Kavitha Jain and Parimal Patil. Kadam was later transferred to Bhagwati hospital. Jain,Patil and Hegde are presently in Sri Sai hospital with minor injuries
The driver responsible for Pawars accident was overtaking a rickshaw when he hit him. After the accident,he fled but Pawar noticed his number and he has been identified, said an officer of Charkop Police station. We have sent a team to his residence to arrest him, added the officer.
In Kadams case,Hegde was driving the wrong way on a road. He allegedly lost control as his foot got stuck between the accelerator and the brake of his car. When the officers of Samtanagar police station were asked about Kadams accident,they said,We have not yet filed a case yet as we are still investigating into the incident.
