Police have arrested two persons for the murder of a police informer,Nasir Shaikh (38),at the MHADA transit camp in Wadala. They have launched a hunt for four others in the case.
Shaikh had come to the area to visit an acquaintance identified as Vijay,when the group of six attacked him with sharp instruments,police said. He was stabbed on his wrist,stomach and chest.
Senior inspector Nagesh Jadhav of Wadala Truck Terminal police said they arrested the two Kumar alias Devendra (34) and Mani Naidu (24) on learning that Shaikh had a previous enmity with them. He said investigations revealed that one of the absconding accused had sworn to kill Shaikh. Shaikh had given the police an information that resulted in the death of the brother of one of the accused in a shootout in 2006. He had then sworn to kill Shaikh.
Jadhav said the arrested were known to indulge in extortion and they had several cases against them. We have charged the arrested and absconding persons under section 302 (murder) of IPC. The arrested were produced in court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody.
