Two assistant police inspectors were suspended over the last three days for alleged misconduct in Mumbai and Thane. While one of them was seen dancing with a girl in a dance bar, the other was suspended after his investigation in a case assigned to him was found to be suspicious.
According to the police, the suspended police officers have been identified as API Umesh Patil with the Kasimira police station, Thane Rural, and API Rajendra Gaikwad, Vakola police station, Mumbai.
Officials said that Patil was allegedly caught dancing at a dance bar last week. “His conduct has been found unbecoming of an officer. He was suspended three days ago,” said Rajesh Pradhan, Superintendent of Police, Thane Rural. An inquiry has been initiated into the alleged incident.
Meanwhile, API Rakendra Gaikwad was suspended on Tuesday after a woman that he had arrested in a theft case complained against him.
Police sources said that in April this year, the owner of a medical store in Vakola had registered a case of theft against the woman. “Gaikwad was investigating the case and he added sections of robbery in the FIR against the woman and also arrested her. Following the woman’s complaint, a preliminary inquiry was initiated. The preliminary inquiry found Gaikwad’s investigations suspicious and a departmental inquiry has been initiated.
