THE THANE police on Sunday arrested two labourers from Bhiwandi for allegedly murdering a 40-year-old woman working with them, chopping her body into pieces, stuffing them into gunny bags and disposing them of at two different spots.  An officer from Shanti Nagar police station said that the two arrested, Jiyalal Khan (38) and Suresh Rajgure (40), are residents of Temghar in Bhiwandi. On Friday night, the duo, along with the deceased Vanshi Waman Korad, were discussing something when a quarrel broke out between them over a petty issue.

In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly attacked her with a knife, killing her. To dispose of her body, they cut it into pieces and stuffed them into two gunny bags, police said. The bags were then dumped at two different spots.

On Saturday, the police got a call about a blood-stained gunny bag lying near a nullah. On searching it, they found body parts in it. The second gunny bag was found at some distance from the first.

The body was identified with the help of local residents and a search was launched for the suspected killers. The two accused were eventually arrested on Sunday, an officer said.
