TISS begins inquiry against asst prof who quit after complaint of sexual harassment

(Express File Photo) The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has initiated an inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment and bullying made by a student against an assistant professor, who has resigned amid the controversy.
The complainant, in a written anonymous complaint submitted to TISS chancellor professor D P Singh and Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, alleged that the professor created a toxic environment on campus through unwarranted personal advances and made threatening remarks to intimidate her.
Confirming the complaint, a TISS official said an inquiry has been initiated. “The administration received the complaint on February 20. The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) immediately acknowledged the complaint and initiated the inquiry, which will include hearings for both parties. The ICC operates as an independent body, and its findings and recommendations will determine further action.” The TISS official confirmed that the assistant professor resigned on February 21.
