Three arrested for stabbing biker after argument in Aarey Colony

According to the police, the incident took place around 8pm on Monday when the complainant, Joyeb Naeem Baig, 22, was on his way home from Aarey Colony.

The Vanrai police arrested three men for allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old biker in his abdomen over an argument in Aarey Colony, Goregaon (East).

The arrested have been identified as Naeem Shahabuddin Dhobi, 26, Sameer Dhobi, 30 and Vinod Padiyachi, 28. All the accused are residents of Goregaon (East).

According to the police, the incident took place around 8pm on Monday when the complainant, Joyeb Naeem Baig, 22, was on his way home from Aarey Colony. Before reaching a signal, he had an argument with the accused, who was also heading in the same direction. The accused’s friends, who were nearby, heard the argument and came to the spot but by the time the victim drove the bike and stopped a few metres ahead as the signal turned red, said the officer.

The accused also came there and one of them removed the key of the complainant’s bike. The complainant got off and confronted the three and demanded the keys back. One of the accused took out a knife from his pocket and allegedly stabbed the complainant in the stomach, resulting in serious injuries. The accused then fled from the spot. The locals rushed the victim to the hospital, and the police were informed about the incident, said Senior Inspector Girish Bane of Vanrai police station.

A message was sent to the control room, and police conducting patrolling in the area started searching for the accused. Based on the description of the eyewitnesses and bike number, two accused were detained near Goregaon station. After their interrogation, the third accused was arrested from Aarey Colony area, said Bane. The accused were remanded to police custody till November 29.
