Travelling through Thane’s congested highways may soon become a smoother experience, with the completion of the ambitious Vadpe-Majiwada expansion project of the Old Mumbai-Nashik Highway. Spanning 23.8 km, this project aims to transform the highway into an eight-lane marvel with two-lane service roads on either side, a design that includes ten strategically placed vehicular underpasses to ease traffic snarls.

These underpasses are newly developed in this project as per the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) official.

The MSRDC envisions a seamless flow of vehicles, particularly addressing the chaos caused by commercial traffic from Bhiwandi’s sprawling warehouses. Currently, the influx of heavy goods vehicles clogs this critical stretch, resulting in long delays and daily frustration for commuters.
