Thane man kills 12-year-old sister; mistakes her first period blood stains for physical relationship

The Maharashtra Police this week arrested a 30-year-old security guard in Thane for allegedly killing his 12-year-old sister over suspicion of having a love affair with someone, officials said.

According to the police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the man allegedly tortured the girl by inflicting burn wounds on her body and when the girl was taken to the hospital, she was declared brought dead.

The police said that the man had a misunderstanding that his sister, who was having her first period, had had a physical relationship with someone after noticing blood stains on her clothes.

An officer said that the girl used to live with her brother and sister-in-law in Ulhasnagar, a city in Thane district.

The local police have registered a murder case.
