Two teens die in accident during a joyride on Western Express highway

It is learnt that they were all close friends and knew each other for many years having studied at the same school and junior college.
According to the police, on Saturday at around 12.30am, the four of them gathered at Jalaz Dheer’s house in Goregaon (east) and played video games for hours.

At around 3.30am, the four decided to take a joyride in Sahil’s Honda City car. They first went to Bandra, and Jedan drove the car, the police said.

While returning, the four left Bandra at around 4.10am, and this time Sahil was driving the car. “He was driving the car at an average speed of 120-150 (km/hr),” Jedan states in his statement to the police.

When their car reached Sahara Star Hotel, Sahil was confused between taking the flyover to go to Goregaon or taking the service road. In this confusion, he first took a left turn and then swerved to go right. In this manoeuvre, he lost control over wheels and eventually rammed into the pole of the divider on the highway, Jedan said in his complaint.

Sustaining minor injuries, Jedan and Sahil got out of the car. Jedan, with the help of two bystanders, rushed Jalaz to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari, while Sahil rushed Sarthak to Bhabha Hospital. Jedan later informed Jalaz’s parents about the accident. They shifted Jalaz to Kokilaben hospital. Later, Jalaz and Sarthak both died during treatment at the hospital.

The police were informed, and cops reached hospitals to initiate a probe.

On Jedan’s complaint, the police have registered a case of causing death by negligence, among other charges of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicles Act, against Sahil, said an officer.
