NEARLY 40 days after allegedly raping and kidnapping a minor, Wadala TT police arrested the accused after he was caught red handed while attempting to rape another, a six-year-old, on November 27.
According to the police, a nine-yer-old girl went missing from her father’s shop in Antop Hill on October 24 night. The police said that the girl was bursting crackers with her brother outside the shop under their father’s supervision.
A few minutes later, the father went inside to clean the shop and the son went home, leaving the girl alone. An unidentified man then allegedly kidnapped her. The victim returned home at 1 am, crying in pain and with her clothes torn.The police have identified the accused as Abdul Shaha (19), a vegetable vendor, a resident of same locality.
“On November 27, the accused had attempted to rape a six-year-old girl at custom’s ground in Antop Hill. Shaha had lured his victim with a chocolate and had brought her to the spot. The teen was nabbed by the nearby public who witnessed the accused force himself upon the minor,” said inspector Sunil Kadam with the Wadala TT police.
“We made inquiries with Shaha and his whereabouts in between two incidents but he was finally identified by the victim,” said the police . “We have booked him in two separate cases for kidnapping, rape and criminal intimidation under the IPC in addition to multiple sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (PCSOA),” said DCP Ashok Dudhe.
