Assistant police sub-inspector Sachin Suryavanshi, who was allegedly assaulted by legislators in Vidhan Bhavan after he fined an MLA for speeding in March, has been given a temporary posting to a police unit in his native place Sangli. Complaining of stress and illness,Suryavanshi had requested for a temporary posting to Sangli three weeks back, senior police officers said. Suryavanshi was allegedly attacked by 13 MLAs on March 19 during the budget session of the assembly. A day earlier,he had fined MLA Kshitij Thakur of the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi for speeding on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link while he was on duty in the traffic control room. Suryavanshi said he was not feeling well and requested that he be temporarily posted near his home. He will now be with the Police Training School in Sangli, said Deven Bharti,Inspector-General,Law and Order. However,Bharti said, the move should not be seen as a transfer. He told us that he had been in agony ever since the attack. This is a temporary move. After a few months,we will ask him if he wants to return to Mumbai, he said. The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police arrested Thakur and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena MLA Ram Kadam for the assault in March. They were later released on bail but suspended from the assembly. Suryavanshi too was suspended on March 25 after Thakur moved a breach of privilege motion in the assembly. Last month, the suspensions of Thakur and Kadam were revoked. Suryavanshi, too, was reinstated . mumbai.newsline@expressindia.com
