Student ‘jumps’ off 7th floor of hostel,dies

The police said the reason behind this step is not known yet as no suicide note has been recovered so far.

A 22-year-old engineering student allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of his college building Tuesday evening in Vile Parle (West). The police said the reason behind this step is not known yet as no suicide note has been recovered so far.

The Juhu police said Omkar Chakravarty,jumped from the seventh floor room of Mukesh Patel Engineering College.

Police said Chakravarty,originally a native of Chennai,was studying MBA at the college. Police said Chakravarty’s friends rushed him to Cooper Hospital. However,he was declared dead on arrival.

“We have registered a case of accidental death. The incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed on the seventh floor,from where Chakravarty jumped. It is a clear case of suicide. His body has been sent for an autopsy,” said Arun Bhagat,senior inspector,Juhu police station.
