State police transfers a bid to reorient structure of force, says new Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic)

Milind Bharambe said that the continuing transfers of officers in the department was to “reorient the structure of the force.”

The newly appointed Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Milind Bharambe, on Wednesday, said that the continuing transfers of officers in the department was to “reorient the structure of the force.”

On Tuesday, 35 police officers with Traffic were transferred to Local Arms based on their work performances and negative markings during duty hours over a period of time, from across region.

Refuting any other reasons, he said, “I do not intend to clean the traffic department. The 35 officers were transferred on the basis of their non-performance or the lesser work that they did with the traffic divisions that they were attached with.”

He confirmed that more transfers will continue in the coming days. Seven inspector rank officers, seven assistant police inspectors and 21 sub-inspectors have been transferred and they were attached with various police chowkies in the city, the police said.
