Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
THE STATE Cabinet Infrastructure sub-committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday approved the revised alignment of the 204-km Nagpur-Chandrapur Expressway, after incorporating recommendations received through the Union government’s Gati Shakti portal.
According to the approved proposal, the Nagpur–Chandrapur corridor will run from Seladoh interchange on the Samruddhi Mahamarg to Navegaon (Mor) on the Durga–Hyderabad highway, covering 192 km. The previously proposed 11-km Chandrapur connector will remain unchanged. Officials said the revised alignment will help save 27 hectares of forest land, reducing environmental impact.
The committee also cleared extension of the deadline for redevelopment of land parcels in Ghatkopar (East), Chembur and Andheri (West) under the printing workers’ housing redevelopment scheme.
Senior ministers including Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and senior bureaucrats attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Fadnavis stressed upon that rapid urbanisation across Maharashtra is intensifying congestion, and directed authorities to prioritise immediate solutions on the Hadapsar–Yavat stretch, a major traffic choke point in Pune district.
The chief minister instructed officials to ensure that road-widening and the proposed elevated corridor are executed without inconveniencing residents.
The CM further mandated that all ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects must obtain clearance through the Gati Shakti portal before being placed before the cabinet sub-committee.
A presentation on the revised alignment was made by Additional Chief Secretary (PWD) Manisha Mhaiskar.
