The organisation,Habitat for Humanity,has taken a step forward in helping rebuild the lives of those affected in the Uttarakhand and Odisha disasters by hosting a charity dinner and auction. On the occasion of their 30th anniversary celebrations in India,the organisation hopes to raise close to two million USD through pledges,sponsorships and a live auction.
One of the highlights of the auction is a chance to spend an entire day with actor John Abraham who has previously worked with the organisation on the sets of an upcoming movie,estimated at Rs 3 lakh. A helicopter ride over the city with actor Jacqueline Fernandes will be given to the highest bidder,which starts from Rs 2.50 lakh. An evening on a dinner cruise with actor R Madhavan is estimated at a close Rs 2.25 lakh. Other items at the auction are a special dinner for 10 prepared by Chef Ajay Chopra,an Essex vintage car (priced at about Rs 35 lakh),and paintings by artists Bose Krishnamachari,Rini Dhumal and Vinita Karim.
The event will be hosted at the Trident Hotel at Nariman Point on December 14.
