BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Kirit Somaiya’s son Neil recently had to be rushed to Mulund-based Fortis Hospital, for injuries he reportedly sustained after a glass fell on his hand and injured his wrist.
According to the police, the incident took place on Monday night at Somaiya’s residence in Mulund.
Vinaykumar Rathod, the zonal deputy commissioner of police, denied that Neil tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrist with a shard of glass.
“Neil was injured by a glass table falling on his hand. There was no attempt to suicide,” Rathod said.
Neil was reportedly treated the same night at Fortis Hospital and discharged following stitches on his hand.
“He is stable now. He required sutures and was attended to by our medical t”am,” said Dr S Narayani, medical director at Fortis Hospital.
Speaking from Vadodara, Somaiya told The Indian Express that his son met with a minor accident and is doing fine. “If my son was serious, I would not have left Mumbai for this professional trip,” Somaiya said.
Somaiya alleged that rumours about him and his family are being spread since Tuesday to malign him and his family after the arrest of Sameer Bhujbal, former MP and nephew of ex-deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal, by the Enforcement Directorate, in connection with the Maharashtra Sadan scam.
Somaiya had deposed before the investigators and alleged that he is being pressured by various tools and persons through phone calls and texts. However, Somaiya has not approached the police either to lodge a complaint or ask for protection.
