Shops robbed in Matunga

Three shops in Dongre building,opposite Ruia College in Matunga,were robbed on Sunday night.

Three shops in Dongre building,opposite Ruia College in Matunga,were robbed on Sunday night. The robbers fled with goods and cash amounting to approximately Rs 1.7 lakh. The owners of the shop discovered the robbery after they opened shutters on Monday morning.

According to the Matunga police,the robbers broke into a general store,a kitchen appliances outlet and another hotel in the same complex and stole cash from the money cabinet. “The shopkeepers had shut their shops around 8.30 pm on Sunday,and the robbery must have happened sometime at night. It,however,went undetected despite there being a watchman in the premises,” said a police official. The police are investigating the case.
