Chunky diamond rings and ruby earrings offset her olive green dress as designer Farah Khan Ali greeted guests at the unveiling of her collection for Tanishq on Friday. The occasion marked Ali’s foray into designing for a mass jewellery brand. “People have an impression that I do niche, high-end jewellery. This was a way of breaking that myth and being accessible to more people across India,” says Ali, whose jewellery has found favour with Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Serena Williams and Beyonce.
The collection, called “Farah Khan for Tanishq”, is an assortment of rings, earrings and pendant sets, crafted in 18 carat gold with rubies, emeralds, pearls, citrine, amethysts, and topaz. “Persian aesthetics were the inspiration behind the collection. The Persian architecture or art features motifs that are feminine and rich,” asserts Ali. Multi-functionality is one of the highlights of the collection, with pieces that can be worn in 10 different ways and pendants that double as earrings.A jewellery designer and gemologist, Ali graduated from the Gemological Institute of America and launched her label Farah Khan Fine Jewellery in 2004.
The Farah Khan for Tanishq range is priced upwards of Rs 1.5 lakh and is available at Tanishq stores across the country.
