Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday alleged that Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray had an eye on properties of Sena’s Thane strongman Anand Dighe after his demise.
Addressing a meeting for Mahayuti workers in support of Thane candidate Naresh Mhaske, Shinde claimed that that there was a coordinated attempt to depose Dighe from the Thane district president post.
Underscoring Dighe’s contribution to the party, the CM said, “Dharamveer Anand Dighe guided me throughout my life. His words, urging me to work for society still resonate with me.”
Referring to the 2022 Marathi film Dharamveer, which is based on Dighe, Shinde claimed, “The scene where Rajan Vichare offered his resignation (from Thane civic body’s standing committee) is fictional. In reality, Rajan was not willing to resign at that time. It was only after Dighe Saheb used his weight, Vichare resigned. The true facts will be revealed in the second part of the movie.”
Shinde accused Uddhav of diverging from the principles advocated by Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
“Uddhav Thackeray deceived the public in 2019 by straying from Balasaheb Thackeray’s principles and aligning with the Congress. Despite Devendra Fadnavis making 50 calls, not a single call was answered, revealing Uddhav Thackeray’s ingratitude,” he claimed.
