Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) activists barged into SIES College in Nerul Tuesday alleging the management was using land for commercial purposes without permission from government authorities. The college, however, said it had all requisite permissions. City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO),which allotted the land to SIES,said such permissions are given to colleges, but added it would have to inspect the allegations made by MNVS.
The SIES trust got land at subsidised rates in Nerul to start three colleges – a management and journalism institute,a college of arts, commerce and science and a Vedic school. However, after setting up the college, the management rented out space on the campus to two banks and a gym, claimed Gajanan Kale, general secretary,MNVS.
