Two days after the Delhi Metro Rail mishap,an accident was reported at the construction site of the Mumbai Metro. On Monday night,a temporary scaffolding collapsed near Chakala. No one was injured in the incident.
The project is being executed by the Mumbai Metro One Private Ltd (MMOPL),a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA),Reliance Infrastructure and Veolia Transport.
According to Director,MMOPL,K P Maheshwari,the incident occurred at 10.30 pm when the scaffolding near a pier near Chakala collapsed. The incident disrupted traffic towards Ghatkopar for almost over three hours. MMOPL engineers and contractors rushed to the site to get the debris cleared.
The VAG Corridor project is at par with the international safety norms of Metro projects . We are investigating the cause and have set up an expert committee to determine the cause of the mishap, said Maheshwari.
