In the last three days alone, the Nagpur Rural police registered 15 cases, arrested 18 people and seized sand and other materials worth Rs 4.2 crore in three separate incidents.
Nagpur Rural SP Harssh Poddar told The Indian Express that in 2023, 194 cases were registered, 372 accused were arrested, 208 vehicles were seized, and illegal sand and other materials worth Rs 30.02 crore were confiscated.
While, in 2024, the number of registered cases increased to 302, with 656 accused individuals arrested. The authorities seized 361 vehicles and confiscated illegal sand and other materials valued at Rs 70 crore.
