Former Congress spokesperson and corporator Sameer Desai on Sunday joined the (BJP) along with ‘2,000 party workers’, according to a party press note. Desai is a relative of former Congress MP Gurudas Kamat. Desai’s entry into BJP is a shock for the Congress as they go into the upcoming corporation elections. Desai has served two terms as a corporator.

Desai joined BJP at a function at Kamat hall in Goregaon. Party city unit chief and MLA Ashish Shelar announced Desai’s appointment as secretary of the party. Desai said, “The earlier alliance of the Congress and the NCP has upset the grassroots level party workers. “Also, the BJP is today talking about development. And who does not want to be a part of the development? I am a politician first, not Congressman,” said Desai.
