Robbers’ gang busted

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch nabbed a gang of robbers and chain-snatchers and claimed to have cracked two dozen cases.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch nabbed a gang of robbers and chain-snatchers and claimed to have cracked two dozen cases. The Unit Four of Crime Branch also recovered the three motorcycles used in the offences. The accused have been identified as Sonu Devendra (21),Vinayak Kallure alias Changya (19),Murgesh Devendra (19),Munil Sahani (20),Ravi Mudliar (20).

The police were tipped off that the gang will go to Sion for a robbery. They laid a trap and arrested the five accused. The gang operated during day and night and targetted lone victims on roads,said police. Police are now searching for other accused,who are at large,said an officer,adding that all the accused are residents of Sion and Antop Hill areas.

An inspector from Unit Four said,“The gang had created havoc in the eastern and western suburbs. Its main route for snatching chains was from Wadala Truck Terminal to Chembur’s RCF area.”
