A woman was attacked in Chembur on Monday morning by a couple of robbers who barged into her house and slashed her wrist before fleeing with valuables. The Chembur police suspect that the robbers are locals.
On Monday morning,the victim Sonali Rajesh Kalinani,a 35-year-old housewife,who stays at Sindhi Camp in Chembur with her husband and two children,had returned home after purchasing milk.
She was unaware that two youths had been following her. Kalinanis husband is an electric contractor and he had gone to visit Bhimashankar,a religious place in Pune,with one of their sons.
As soon as she entered her house,the two miscreants barged in and pushed her inside. They broke open the cupboard in the bedroom and took out four gold bangles. When she tried to alert her neighbours by screaming,the accused threatened her with a kitchen knife and slashed her wrist. They also took her cell phone, said senior inspector Balasaheb Pachundkar of Chembur police station.
The victim finally managed to call up her husband. We have registered cases of robbery,house-trespassing and voluntarily causing hurt. The worth of the valuables and the cell phone is estimated to be around Rs 80,000, said Pachundkar.
