Giving relief to citizens from long standing queues and dependency for their 7/12, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday granted complete legal validity to digitally signed 7/12, 8-A and Property Card (Ferfar) extracts across the state. The move will transform the way land records are accessed and used in Maharashtra, officials said.
“With immediate effect, citizens can now obtain an official, legally valid 7/12, 8-A or Ferfar extract online in just a few clicks at a nominal cost of only Rs 15. The requirement of the talathi’s physical signature and stamp has been permanently eliminated,” the Minister said.
Every digital extract will be secured with an authenticated Digital Signature, a scannable QR Code and a unique 16-digit verification number.
These digitally signed records shall enjoy 100% legal acceptance in all government departments, banks, courts, registration offices, and any other authority for all official purposes, the Minister said in a press release.
“This is a proud moment for Maharashtra. By removing dependency on manual signatures and stamps, we are ending decades-old harassment, delays and corruption at the grassroots level. Farmers and landowners will no longer have to stand in queues or pay middlemen. A transparent, affordable and instant solution is now available 24×7 at their fingertips. This is our firm commitment towards ease of living, ease of doing farming and ease of doing business,” he said in the press release.
Key benefits:
* Instant availability and without visits to the talathi or tehsil’s office.
* Zero scope of tampering or forgery because of advanced digital security features.
* Universal acceptance as no office can refuse a digitally signed extract.
The facility is already live at https://mahabhumi.gov.in.
This initiative marks a major step forward in the complete digitisation of land records, ensuring instant availability, enhanced security, absolute transparency and elimination of manual dependencies and delays for farmers and citizens, he added.
